The hotel was built over 2 time periods. The 1st part of the residence was built from an old tower dating back to 1400, the 2nd from a prestigious palace built in 1700. When Florence was the capital of Italy, at the end of 1800, the whole hotel was renovated by the famous architect Giuseppe Poggi, designer of Piazzale Michelangelo. In the past, the building has been home to various embassies and the residence of a number of famous Florentine families, including the Arcangeli of Strozzavolpe. Later transformed into a hotel, the building still maintains the style and atmosphere of an old noble Florentine home.

Within one kilometre of the hotel you will find: the Cathedral S. Maria del Fiore, the Uffizi gallery, Santa Maria Novella Church, Bargello Museum, S. Spirito Church, Pitti Palace, Old Palace and the Old Bridge. Santa Croce Church and the Academy Gallery are located 1.2 kilometres from the hotel.
By Car: From Milano Bologna (North): - Take the Firenze Nord exit of the A1 motorway and follow signs for Centro Città, then for Viali di Circonvallazione and Piazzale di Porta al Prato. - Continue for Ponte alla Vittoria. - Once you have crossed the bridge, go around the traffic island and cross the same bridge again. - Immediately after the bridge, turn right and go straight until you will be obliged to turn left onto Via Magenta. - You will see the hotel on your left after 100 metres. From Roma (South): - Take the Firenze Signa exit of the A1 motorway and follow signs for Centro Città and Ponte alla Vittoria (Vittoria Bridge). - Cross the bridge, turn right and continue straight on until you will be obliged to turn left onto Via Magenta. - You will see the hotel on your left after 100 metres.
The parking place is closed from 21:00 to 08.00.
