Tenuta Di Ricavo

Loc. Ricavo, 4, 53011 Castellina In Chianti

Brochure

Tenuta Di Ricavo - Castellina In Chianti This medieval hamlet, surrounded by nearly 1000 acres of nature reserve in the heart of the Chianti hills, has been lovingly restored and converted to a 4-star hotel. Authentic Tuscan charm and idyllic surroundings meet with modern comfort in perfect harmony at the hotel, which is composed of a manor house and 4 surrounding farmer’s cottages. The hotel is tucked away from the noisy main roads and busy urban centres. However, despite its quiet location, the hotel is extremely central, exactly on the border between the provinces of Siena and Florence. When you are not relaxing in one of the hotel’s 2 swimming pools or reading in the library, you can stroll on the marked walking paths around the hotel or enjoy a work out at the gym. The hotel is open from April to October.

Hotel information

In the main house are 3 lounges, one of which contains a cosy fire place and a well-equipped library. There is also a Wi-Fi zone, a restaurant and coffee shop/bar. It is essential to arrive by car and to have your own means of transportation during your stay. The hotel does not provide a shuttle service and there is no public transport to and from the hotel. It is fun to hop from hill town to hill town. All hill towns can be easily reached by car; whereas local bus transportation is slow and inefficient, meeting the needs of commuting scholars only.

Room information

Ricavo is an ancient hamlet composed of several different buildings, which means that also the guest rooms are distributed in different buildings throughout the compound. The rooms are charming, and most are decorated in a typical Tuscan style, whilst 3 are decorated with modern décor. Please specify when booking whether you would prefer one queen-size bed or twin beds. The standard rooms are located on the first floor and are accessible via the stairs. There are no elevators at the hotel. Several of the rooms are interconnected. These are available on request and subject to availability. Several rooms allow additional occupancy for a child and have the capacity for an extra bed. As not all rooms allow occupancy of more than 2 people, these rooms are strictly on request and subject to availability.

Food & beverage

La Pecora Nera restaurant is Ricavo's on-site hotel restaurant, which is also open to the public. The restaurant serves a range of à la carte Tuscan cuisine and is open in the evenings from 19:30 onwards, with last orders taken at 21:30. The restaurant is closed on Sundays.

Area information

Despite the hotel's tranquil location, it occupies an extremely central position on the border between the provinces of Siena and Florence. All that Tuscany has to offer is within easy reach of the hotel. For example, the Uffizi Gallery in Florence and the Pinacoteca in Siena are only 30 minutes drive from the hotel. Arezzo, San Gimignano, Montalcino, Montepulciano, Pienza and Cortona are all within 45 minutes to 2 hours drive of the hotel, not to forget the famous designer outlets (Gucci, Prada), which are about an hour away.
